The Argyle Pink Jubilee discovered in Australia

Mining giant Rio Tinto has announced the unearthing of a “remarkable” 12.76 carat pink diamond, said to be the largest ever to be discovered in Australia.

Dubbed the Argyle Pink Jubilee, the huge stone was found at Rio’s pink diamond operations in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. It will take at least 10 days to cut and polish. “This rare diamond is generating incredible excitement,” said Josephine Johnson, a spokesperon from Rio’s Argyle Pink Diamonds division.

“A diamond of this calibre is unprecedented — it has taken 26 years of Argyle production to unearth this stone and we may never see one like this again. The individual who gets to wear this remarkable pink diamond will be incredibly lucky indeed."

Though the mining company would not speculate on how much the latest pink gem was worth, Rio said premium quality pink diamonds typically fetch in excess of US$1 million per carat, meaning the Jubilee could go for at least $10 million. It is of the same reported color as the Williamson Pink, famously gifted to HRM Queen Elizabeth II. That diamond was set into a brooch by Cartier for her coronation.

In the shoe heritage category, Christian Louboutin ranked on top by a landslide with 44.89 percent of searches.

Jimmy Choo, Salvatore Ferragamo and Tod’s came next with 11.1 percent, 7.42 percent and 6.96 percent, respectively.

Bally, Kurt Geiger and Manolo Blahnik rounded out the most-searched for brands with 6.07 percent, 4.81 percent and 4.6 percent, respectively.

The most-desired brand of the last category, new players, was Alexander Wang at 29.57 percent.

A Hermes Birkin bag has set a world record after selling for $US203,150 ($A200,500)

The accessory was made famous after appearing on TV's Sex and the City.
Officially called a Hermes Exceptional Collection Shiny Rouge H Porosus Crocodile Birkin Bag, the accessory auctioned in Dallas, Texas, measures 30cm and boasts white gold and diamond detailing.

The new owner won the bid on Tuesday but has asked not to be identified.
'This is an extraordinary example of one of the world's most exceptional handbags, and this was certainly an exceptional price, exceeding our highest expectations at every corner,' director of luxury accessories at Heritage Auctions Matt Rubinger told WWD.

The Three Billion Dollar Super-yacht

THIS gold-plated superyacht is said to be the most expensive on the planet — worth a staggering £3BILLION.

The British-designed vessel is adorned with 100 tons of gold — covering more than half its surface.

The 100ft craft, which has been billed as the world's most unique yacht, has sleeping quarters covered in platinum and a statue made from the bone of a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

The deck, dining areas, rails and anchor were also made from precious metals including platinum.

The History Supreme — designed by Liverpool jeweller Stuart Hughes — puts even Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich's swanky yacht in the shade.

The billionaire's 533ft Eclipse, which has its own missile defence system and escape submarine, is the world's biggest private yacht — but at £750million it is a snip compared to this creation.

Stuart, 40, who took three years to build the History Supreme for a Malaysian businessman, said: "It was probably the most mammoth task ever."

Stuart — who also made a £5million diamond-wrapped iPhone — added: "I've covered all sorts of things in gold but this has got to be my most ambitious project yet. This will never be topped.

"The businessman just approached us and asked us whether we could do it. He wanted a plane doing as well, but the thing would never take off if we did.

"So he said, 'Can you do the yacht?' and I said, 'We'll give it a crack.' Then it was pretty much a case of can you make this gold, can you make that gold?

"We just did what we were told and are delighted with the result."

The yacht was built in Italy and completed in Malaysia two weeks ago.

Ferrari Launches FF Four-Seater In India

NEW DELHI — Italian luxury sports car maker Ferrari SpA Monday introduced the new FF model in India with a starting price of 34.2 million rupees ($687,000), excluding local taxes.

Amedeo Felisa, Ferrari’s chief executive, didn’t give any sales target for the FF in India.

He said however that the company, a unit of Fiat SpA, plans to sell about 1,000 units of the FF globally next year, up from an expected 800 units this year.

“Ferrari had one of its best years in 2011. Sales grew in the U.S. Asia’s importance is growing,” Mr. Felisa told reporters.

The FF, a four-seater, four-wheel drive model, will be sold via the sole dealership of Ferrari in India’s national capital. The New Delhi dealership opened May 26 and the company said then that a Mumbai dealership is slated to open in early 2012.

Indian government levies taxes in excess of 100% on cars that are imported or completely built units.

Luxury sports car makers such as Aston Martin, Porsche, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Maserati already sell their vehicles in India, considered a potential growth market for luxury products.

Mr. Felisa said Ferrari expects to sell about 7,000 cars worldwide this year and about the same number in 2012. In 2010, it sold 6,800 cars.

“We expect to manage volumes to maintain our position in the market,” he said when asked about any impact from the current economic slowdown in Europe.
